Gujarat State School Textbook Board was established in AD. Incorporated on 21st October 1969, for thirty-eight years the Society has been fulfilling its main objective of publishing high-quality textbooks and making them accessible to the poor of Gujarat at a reasonable cost.

Gujarati medium textbooks for classes 1 to 12 are published by the association. Besides, textbooks are also published in Hindi, English, Marathi, Sindhi, Urdu, Sanskrit, and Tamil languages.

Assembly-committees

For the overall management of the Society to achieve its fixed objectives, the following meeting committees are constituted.

The above committees provide advice and suggestions for the smooth running of the whole administration of the society

Disbursement operations of the congregation

Printed textbooks are distributed throughout Gujarat through organizations working on a cooperative basis. Vendors are paired with each district distributor for textbook retailing operations. Retail vendors are registered with the association. Textbooks are readily available to all the students under this system. In Ahmedabad too, the Society has its own sales center (Cell Depot, Godown No. 9, Under Asarwa Bridge, Ahmedabad - 380 016 Phone: 22133920). Any institution or individual can get textbooks from this sales center on a retail basis. Textbooks can also be obtained from abroad through money orders or bank drafts.

Research activities of the Society

The Textbook Society is not content with just publishing textbooks. Research activities are also carried out to improve the quality of textbooks. Talented individuals from primary teachers to university professors are engaged in assessment and other educational programs. Textbook editing training camps and talent scouting programs for textbook writers, consultants, translators, etc. have been conducted.

Activities of the Society in new fields

Textbooks of Basic Subjects: E.S. Since 1999, by publishing 26 books of basic subjects for classes 11-12, society has provided basic literature to students of all fields through textbooks of more subjects for public examination. Hence society has been able to contribute to the important work of human research and development in the fields of village and agriculture as well.

OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION

To prepare and print good quality textbooks in seven other mediums - Hindi, English, Marathi, Sindhi, Urdu, Sanskrit, and Tamil in addition to Gujarati medium of classes 1 to 12 as per the syllabus approved by the Gujarat government, get them printed and distribute them to the students at a reasonable cost on time.
